Pure Smiles - What to expect on your first visit with us.

Your first visit to a new dentist can be a daunting affair especially if you don’t know what is to be expected and this is why as many as half of all adults in the UK avoid making a visit. So, in order to help you feel better about visiting us at Pure Smiles, we thought we would share a little insight on our processes with you.

Your first visit to a new dentist can be a daunting affair especially if you don’t know what is to be expected and this is why as many as half of all adults in the UK avoid making a visit.

So, in order to help you feel better about visiting us at Pure Smiles, we thought we would share a little insight on our processes with you.

From your first call to reserve an appointment and register with us we make sure that your concerns are recognised, these could be related to your symptoms or if you have dental anxiety that we find a way to help you manage your fears.  If you are wheelchair reliant, less able, we ensure that your appointments are scheduled in a suitable surgery. So, by listening we ensure your needs are met and that you are comfortable.

We take the time to listen.

Not all first appointments are routine examinations and sometimes we need to ensure that should you be in discomfort we schedule the correct treatment visit for you.

Whether your first contact with us is by phone or email, we will also ask you about any concerns you may have about your oral health or seeing the dentist, or any cosmetic treatment you are interested in.  This information is passed on the dentist so they know who you are and they are aware of your needs before your first visit.

Why you should book your first dental appointment?

If it’s been a while since you’ve visited the dentist, you’re not alone. Many people put off visiting their dentist, despite recommendations that you should go for a check-up around every six months.

Taking this first step can address your oral wellbeing and will help you plan your oral care. We love sharing quick ways to make keeping your teeth and gums healthy easier, and love answering teeth related questions.  Knowing how to manage your oral health makes it easier for you to better care for your teeth and gums between your dental visits.

Your first appointment:

You are greeted by our front of house team and while you wait you can have a sip of calming herbal tea or cool water. The team is happy to chat with you if that helps you take your mind off your visit, plus if you are really lucky our practice pooch Kiki might offer you a calming paw.

What information do we need?

We gather a little history (medical) as this ensures your visit is catered to meet your medical requirements. We normally share this with you once you have registered (via email) and you can complete this online prior to your visit. Please don’t worry, if accessing this is difficult the team can help you on the day.

Doing things The Pure Smiles Way

We practice “slow dentistry” and this places you in the driver’s seat, making your treatments paced to suit your needs. We understand that new environments can be a little stressful for some patients. We also offer clinical hypnotherapy and have helped so many of our brave patients to overcome their fears and have amazing teeth!

Booking your first appointment with Pure Smiles is an easy, you can call us, email us or book online.

Offering private appointments and a range of practice dental plans to suit different needs, Pure Smiles is your first step in better understanding your oral health needs. We want you to love your teeth as much as we do.
