Each time you smile, it activates the release of chemicals in your brain that work as naturally powerful anti-depressants, relaxants and pain relievers! The mouth is one of the first places that we look at when meeting someone, and an appealing smile is one of the main things that we look for in a potential partner. This all boils down to the simple fact: having nice teeth makes a good impression. With all this in mind, it’s very important that you feel confident in the appearance of your teeth - so here’s some ways to update your oral hygiene to be sure that you’ve got a winning smile!

Time your teeth routine

Most dentists recommend that you spend 2 minutes brushing your teeth, morning and night. This might seem like a simple step but most of us don’t get anywhere near that amount of time. So, set yourself a timer on your phone, or keep an eye on your watch to make sure that you’re giving your teeth the time they need.

Think between the lines

Just brushing only cleans two thirds of your teeth so it’s vital to fill in the last third with a good flossing! Only 30% of the UK population floss regularly, so whilst this might seem like a basic tip, the numbers show that there’s plenty of us that can take on flossing to improve our oral hygiene and get those teeth sparkling!

What type of bristle resistance is your toothbrush? How is it designed to clean your mouth? Why is your toothpaste best for your teeth? You might be surprised that lots of us have no idea! If you know what teeth-tools are best for your mouth, you’re going to have a much more effective routine. Ask your dentists and invest in teeth-tools that makes you feel good when you’re using them!

Keep a tooth diary

People keep track of the effects of their workout routine, but for some reason it seems silly to do the same for your teeth? We say it’s not silly, and it’s just as important! You can start by making little notes in a book and/or taking regular pictures of your teeth to make sure that all your hard work is paying off.

Be a regular at the practice

The best way to make sure that your teeth routine is working for you is to make sure that you have regular check-ins with your dentist. We are experts in teeth, and we can tell you how well you’re doing and suggest new ways to do even better!
